About
Prof. Arup Barman is serving as a professor in the Dept. of Business Administration and Dean of the Jawaharlal Nehru School of Management Studies, Assam University, Silchar. He was the former HoD of the Dept of Business Administration and the former registrar of Rabindranath Thakur University, Hojai (Assam). He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (2006) and a Postdoctorate (2009-2011) from SAB, UGC-GOI, and a D.Litt. (2022) in Contemporary Management from International Internship University.
He earned 28 years of PG-MBA teaching experience, with more than 100 hours of sessions, as a resource person for various administrative and behavioral training programs. Professor Barman attended 28 international seminars, contributed 30 book chapters, and published 287 research papers in various journals of global repute. He completed 39 proven diplomas in management, engineering management, and quality management. He guided 15 scholars, awarded PhDs in management, and evaluated 65 theses, including those from Indian universities and abroad.
He received the ASDF-Global Global Best Faculty Award 2014, the ITC Global Distinguished Professor Award 2015, the Best Teacher Award from Asian University International, Indonesia; the Global Educator Award 2021 from GAHE, Philippines; and the World Anti-Narcotics Council, Indonesia. He is a Harvard Trailblazer (Harvard World Record Holder, 2023). In addition, he holds 13 International Awards, i.e., Bharat Gaurav, ULEKTZ-Wall of Fame, and Indian Icon Award (2022).
He is a member of the World Research Union (WRU) in Sydney, Australia; also a member of the World Academies; and an empanelled expert of the Inclusive Policy Lab, UNESCO. His main research interests are value engineering, human resource development (HRD), neuro-capital, and innovation systems. He is known for proposing the integrative models of the ARUP framework, which combine interdisciplinary insights from management science, behavioral research, and socio-economic development.
